Let’s get testing.

Congratulations, you’re a ✨ Beta Tester ✨. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to Gyrinx Beta. We hope you’ll find Gyrinx exciting and helpful! But we also hope you’ll find lots of errors, bugs, and areas for improvement.

To get started, why not build a list (head here for a step-by-step guide) or set up a campaign?

One important point

If you’ve built a gang using YakTribe, you’ll know it’s a credit-based system: you start with (for example) 1,000 credits, and they are whittled down every time you buy something.

We think this is unnecessarily fiddly, especially when you decide to delete a fighter and have to refund yourself for their cred cost.

So instead, Gyrinx list creation is all about building up — rather spending a pile of credits, in our system you just add stuff to your gang (or take it off) until you’re at the appropriate gang value. This removes the mental arithmetic and lets you focus on putting a list together.

Then, when the list is ready, put it in a campaign. At that point, it becomes a campaign gang and is subject to conventional credit rules.

What do we want? Bug reports! When do we want ’em? Now!

Although we hope many users will find Gyrinx immediately serves their Necromunda needs, we are still ironing out some kinks through this public beta test.

Because of that, high-quality bug reports are incredibly useful: the more detail and context you can provide, the quicker we can get the issue fixed.

A great bug report contains the following:

  • Describe the bug: A clear and concise description of what the bug is
  • Expected behaviour: What you were doing, and what you expected to happen
  • Actual behaviour: What actually happened
  • Screenshots: If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem
  • Platform: What technology are you using? Laptop/Mobile, operating system and browser information are all useful
  • Other context: Anything else we might find useful

You can submit a bug via #bug-reports on Discord or directly via GitHub.

Content error reporting

We have pulled in a LOT of names and statlines over the past few months. Inevitably, some are going to be wrong — and we need your help finding them.

A perfect content error report contains simply the following:

  • Describe the error: A clear and concise description of what the error is, including — if you’d be so kind — a suggested correction.

You can report content errors via #content on Discord.

There are currently some known absences in the content system, which are listed below. Please take a look at this list before you get building. You can also find our notes on handling Necromunda’s sprawling rules here.

Contributing to Gyrinx

If you'd like to contribute code to Gyrinx, you can! We are open sourced on GitHub. We have separate technical documentation site which can help you get started.

Known content gaps/issues

We’re working hard to get all of Necromunda’s content ingested into our system, but we aren’t quite there. Here are the known gaps — things which aren’t yet supported, but will be — please let us know (via #content on Discord) if you find something missing that ISN’T listed here. Also, consider searching to see if the issue has already been reported.

General
  • Alliances are not yet enabled.
  • The Whispering Weapons have not been integrated.
  • The Necromunda Reliquary is not supported.
  • Gang-specific generic house agents aren’t yet added (the DP house agents are)
Equipment
  • Fighters are not restrained in terms of what type of equipment they can be assigned. Eg a juve can be given a heavy weapon.
  • All weapon accessories can be given to any weapon.
  • Master-crafted weapons are not fully supported (some are built-in to certain profiles, but broader support is not yet enabled).
  • The Mung Vase is not supported.
  • Gang terrain support being developed (we have ideas 👀).
Vehicles
  • We don’t yet support vehicles (though you can hire crews if you really want to). This will change very soon.
Ash Wastes Nomads (TotW)
  • The Nomad Trading Post has not yet been implemented. All items from the NTP are currently in the main TP with rarity values.
Outcasts
  • Outcasts are fiddly, and we’re improving our support for them.
  • Archetypes aren’t yet implemented, meaning you can’t be Wyrd.
  • The Gorvos gang is not supported.
Venators
  • You can’t yet set custom skill choices for Venator gangs.
