Origins: The First Dampening

According to tribal myth, the Sticky‑Spirit Nation began when a wandering ash‑shaman discovered a single, perfectly damp tissue fluttering across the wastes. 

It never dried. 

Not in the sun. 

Not in the wind. 

Not even when dropped into a rad‑vent.

The shaman declared it a manifestation of the Sticky Spirit, a chittering, goo‑breathing entity said to bind all things together — spiritually, physically, and unfortunately.

The tribe formed around this relic, believing it to be the Eternal Damp Tissue, a holy object that absorbs the sins, sweat, and bug mucus of the world.

It is now so saturated that it must be carried on a sled.

The sled is also damp.

Beliefs: The Doctrine of Perpetual Moisture

The Sticky‑Spirit Nation believes dryness is a curse — a sign the Sticky Spirit has abandoned you. 

Moisture, however, is divine.

They teach that:

  • Every droplet of goo is a blessing
  • Every tissue is a vessel of the spirit
  • Every sticky mishap is a lesson
  • Every webgun jam is a test of faith

Their shamans, known as Moist‑Seers, interpret the patterns of dampness on sacred tissues to predict the future. 

They are wrong 100% of the time.

Culture: A Life of Adhesive Catastrophe

The tribe travels the wastes wrapped in layers of ceremonial tissues, each one dampened with a mixture of bug slime, ash dew, and “spirit moisture” (no one asks what that is).

Their camps are identifiable by:

  • fluttering banners of soggy tissues
  • sticky footprints that never quite dry
  • Juves screaming because they’ve glued themselves to something again

They believe the Sticky Spirit guides them through the wastes by causing tissues to cling to certain directions. 

This has led them into pits, dunes, and once, a sump‑beast’s mouth.

They called that “a pilgrimage”.

The Eternal Damp Tissue

The tribe’s holiest relic is the Eternal Damp Tissue, a legendary square of paper so saturated with sacred goo that it has achieved a kind of mythic permanence.

It is:

  • too heavy to lift
  • too sticky to touch
  • too damp to burn
  • too important to question

The Moist‑Seers claim it whispers to them. 

Others claim that’s just the sound of it squelching.

Warfare: The Soggy Charge

In battle, the Sticky‑Spirit Nation is a sight to behold — and to avoid.

Their tactics include:

  • The Soggy Charge: sprinting while waving damp tissues to distract enemies
  • The Adhesive Ambush: laying out sticky cloths that catch boots, bugs, and occasionally their own fighters
  • The Blessed Webburst: firing webguns pre‑lubricated with sacred goo, which makes them wildly unpredictable

Enemies fear them not because they are deadly, but because they are unhygienic.

Reputation in the Wastes

Other tribes call them:

  • “The Damp Ones”
  • “The Goo‑Folk”
  • “Those Sticky Weirdos”
  • “The Tissue Cult”

But despite the mockery, everyone respects the Sticky‑Spirit Nation’s uncanny ability to survive. 

No one knows how. 

Possibly because predators don’t want to touch them.
