A name spoken with unease even amongst his peers, Cassian Vorenthos of the Ordo Chronos is marked by an obsession with the hidden currents of time. His chronomantic gift, sanctioned though never trusted, grants him glimpses of futures best left unseen — and burdens him with the knowledge of fates that cannot be averted.

Vorenthos’ methods are inscrutable: to some he is a zealot, to others a radical walking the knife’s edge of heresy. Whispers persist that his mind is fraying under the weight of countless possible tomorrows — None know if he comes to Cog-Port to preserve its future, or to erase it from the ledger of time altogether.

Once a common line soldier, Tiber Varro was reforged into a Crusader by faith and fire. He bears blade and shield as relics of devotion, a living bulwark sworn to stand between his master and all who would strike at him. Varro calls Vorenthos’ chronomancy the Emperor’s will made manifest — but whether he clings to that conviction from true belief or desperate need, even he no longer knows.

Once a towering brute of the Astra Militarum, OBEX was seized by the Ordo Chronos as raw material for their stabiliser program. Ogryns' simple minds, it was reasoned, would better endure the strain of temporal augmentation where men went mad. Now little remains of the soldier he was: a servitor husk bound to experimental chrono-engines, a living anchor dragged through fractures in time. Whether he is weapon, guardian, or warning is known only to Vorenthos.

Its targeting spirit operates on predictive cogitator loops, allowing it to launch grenades with uncanny foresight. To the rest of the Mandate it is a tool; to Vorenthos it is proof that even machines may glimpse the flow of time.
