Overview

Background and Origin

 

The Cult of Sickness is not an emergent phenomenon; they are a deep-hive infection. Their origin lies within one of the largest Corpse Starch processing facilities on Necromunda, far down in the dark, eternally humid zones dedicated to recycling the dead into food.

Their madness, however, didn't come from simple cannibalism. Their founder, Lord Thrombosis, was a foreman on the largest filtration line—a man whose mind snapped from constant exposure to the slurry and the sight of endless, processed remains. He became convinced that the industrial runoff was not waste, but the pure, sacred blood of the Omnissiah, and that the true god required the living essence of the weak to thicken and clot this 'holy fluid.'

The Cult's specific doctrine focuses on "purifying the flow":

  • Thrombosis (Clotting): They believe in stopping the "unworthy blood" of the enemy and consolidating the strength of the cult (represented by their resilience and slow, unstoppable advance).

  • Sepsis (Infection): They see combat as an infection against the enemy, utilizing quick, sickening attacks to spread panic and fear.

 

Zone Mortalis Tactics

 

The close quarters of the Zone Mortalis (literally, the "Death Zone" of tunnels and bulkheads) is their natural habitat.

  • The Advance: Led by Lord Thrombosis (who moves like an unstoppable clot) and the slow, grinding Coagula (with his Flensing Saw), the cult uses the confined corridors to negate the enemy's shooting advantage.

  • Smoke and Flank: The Juves, Myelo and Sepsa, use their Infiltrate ability and Smoke Grenades not just to hide, but to deliberately block off sight lines and create a suffocating, disorienting battlefield of zero visibility. They are often sent into side passages to infect the enemy's rear.

  • The Killers: Once the enemy is confused and pinned down, Kytos and the Skinners, Morbido and Cruor, burst through the gloom. With their high attack rates and Shred weapons, they are cellular-level destroyers, dedicated to making the victim's 'blood flow' into the sacred runoff trenches before anyone can react.

To fight The Cult of Sickness in the dark is to experience a terrifying descent into madness, where every pipe is coated in gore, and every corner hides a screaming, meat-hungry butcher.
