The self proclaimed Brotherhood of Steel are a misguided and strangely well funded group of hive scum who have dedicated themselves, slightly unknowingly, to the reverence of the Imperial Fists. No doubt the Mechanicus would find their use and butchery of the Space Marine armour utterly heretical. The Brotherhood have begun to make themselves useful to various guilds and political parties around Hive Paradice, meaning that their practices are largely allowed to continue.

The slightly disturbing practice of mixing augmetic surgery and gene smithing so that they can fit into the Space marine armour is something that they could not have achieved by themselves...

Their only apparent goal is to find ancient armour lost during the liberation of Necromunda. But there are suspicions among the guilders native to Hive Paradice that they may have other, less spoken of, motivations.
