“I dunno, he told me it was all over pretty quick. You see, I heard a rumour down at the manufactorum that this was bound to happen. When the enforcers locked down the Narco Den, they took most of the district’s ghast supply with it. Apparently, that’s what the Dusk Walkers have been shipping this entire time, vials upon vials of ghast. Don’t use it myself – never saw the appeal – but a few of the regulars would cut off a limb for just a few drops of the stuff. Anyway, no Narco Den means most of the Walkers' supply lines would've been cut off, so rumour was they've been looking for new way of getting stuff from A to B.
My son was there when it all kicked off today – poor lad, must’ve been terrified. See, Vega’s lot also recently got roughed up at the Furnace by that new Cawdor band that you see skulking about. Her girls are into all sorts of shady dealings now, or so I hear, doing the dirty work for some off-world smugglers. You see where this is going? I did. Told everyone I knew to stay clear of the crossing for the time being, or at least wait for the air to clear between the Delaque and Eschers.
Most listened, to be fair to them, ‘cept my boy. Bloody Lander, always been too curious for his own good, he has.
He heard some shouting at first, probably Vega, she’s never been one for subtlety. That’s when he saw… them. Those freaks, all dressed in black, hissing in a tongue no man could ever understand. Lander said that’s when he decided to hide – smart move, that. When the Walkers come out from whatever shadows they hide in, it’s never for a good reason.
Both sides were looking for… something. Absolutely ripping into nearby crates, with increasing desperation. Shots were fired shortly after the whole thing began. Lander mentioned he saw one of the Escher girls running from one of those black-robed creeps who had talon-like blades strapped to his arms, only to have a bolter shell clip her calf. The shriek was horrendous, Lander says it’s still ringing in his ears. Vega herself apparently shot back at the bastard that did it. Only took her finger off the trigger ‘til he stopped moving entirely.
Was to no avail though, those bloody Delaque found whatever they were searching for, and vanished as fast as they’d arrived. The Escher did the same soon after – think both gangs might have been after the same thing. Some personnel from House Ty have been the only ones seen at the crossing since the scrap. Have a real bad feeling about what they’re up to, I do. Anyone that employs that many wyrds is dangerous in my book.
Anyways, drink up boys, whole district is about to go to shit, might as well enjoy the quiet whilst it lasts.”
