Dottie's return was greatly celebrated throughout the gang - Sandra cried - although if anyone repeats that, she'll garotte them with her whip. Deberah made a cake from some stolen ingredients she'd managed to scrounge from an abandoned house - although the eggs did look a little funky. Even Dolores tapped her foot at the edge of the room, her massive Phelynxes snoozing at her boots.

One thing they'll never understand is, why did Çad Lake Militia give her back for so little? Why on earth did I've Got Nothing Left.. give up that territory, even when it meant going back up against the very captors that held Dottie?

Desperation, that's what. Everyone wants what is best for them, and if that means sometimes you can take advantage of their desperation, then so be it. It's an eat or be eaten world, and sometimes when things are given on a silver platter, you take it, at any risk to keep your people safe, NOW.

Unless of course it's Shakshuka that Deberah made with the rest of the eggs.

Now that Dottie was back, she was keen on proving her worth.

But killing? That's a new one for Book Club. Usually, they made sure to leave people out cold, feeling bad whenever they permanently injured people. Some of the Club had a weird tendency to take out eyes...

But killing, now that's a new level. They all stared at John Brunner dead on the ground, and there was a terse, but weirdly calm quiet to the battleground.

Dottie was covered in green, toxic goop from her claw, her eyes blazing with the Fast and Bitter running through her veins. She looked like a beast raving wild, and the remnants of John Brunner sat beneath her feet like a bloody shadow.

But it wasn't her that took the final blow. Sandra, her bolt needler combi smoking in her hands. Her eyes glinted in the sun, dark, and brooding. She'd maybe gone too far, their first dive into their specialty as an Escher gang - Stimms and Ammo - had proved lethal - literally.

It was maybe a line they needed to cross to survive.
